New Member Spotlight - Max Ivory

Max Ivory is a dynamic professional with a diverse background spanning landscape design, international studies, and business entrepreneurship. With a passion for sustainable development and community engagement, Max has made significant contributions to both the public and private sectors.
Max's professional journey took root in landscape design, a field where they cultivated a deep understanding of architectural practices, particularly biophilic design principles. Through managing their own successful business and overseeing the University of Utah's arboretum, Max developed not only practical skills but also a profound appreciation for environmental stewardship, igniting a lifelong dedication to sustainability.
After graduating with a triple major in: International Studies, with double emphasis on foreign security & relations and Sustainable Development, alongside Political Science with emphasis on international politics, and Mandarin Chinese, Max embarked on a career journey that seamlessly blended their diverse skill set.
Joining the Utah Inland Port Authority as an intern during their senior year was a pivotal moment. This experience laid the groundwork for Max's subsequent roles within the organization. Upon graduation, Max was hired full-time as the Grants and Proposals Manager, where they demonstrated proficiency in project management, relationship building, public financing, federal risk and compliance, coordination, and innovation.
After a year, Max was given a new role in addition to their previous, Special Assistant to the Associate Vice President. In this capacity, Max excels in recruitment, strategic planning, business analysis, and internal management, contributing significantly to the organization's success.
Beyond their professional endeavors, Max is deeply committed to community service and personal projects. They founded a flower non-profit aimed at reallocating waste into impactful resources for shelters and activity-based nonprofits. Additionally, Max volunteers their time teaching grant management to Refugee Services and coordinates events for young professionals in the area.
Max's entrepreneurial spirit has led them to start three businesses, each reflecting their innovative mindset and commitment to making a positive impact. Max will always have a project on their mind and welcomes any questions about what that project is. With a keen interest in global engagement, Max aspires to work globally with Foreign Direct Investments (FDIs), impact investing, and innovative industries.
In their free time, Max enjoys a variety of hobbies including backpacking, rock climbing, photography, vinyl records, plants, baking, fly fishing, guitar, and more. These interests not only enrich their personal life but also inform their professional endeavors, fostering creativity and a holistic approach to problem-solving.
